En este sentido, vamos a presentarles en esta crónica al maestro catalán Roberto Villa, adjunto al organizador del Llobregat Open Chess Tournament y responsable del torneo escolar, del que se han cumplido cuatro ediciones.

Villa cumple con diversos roles, tanto en labores logísticas como organizativas, así como de asesoramiento. La relación con el Llobregat Open Chess Tournament se inició cuando, en la segunda edición, contactó con Xavier Pérez Llorca para que su hijo, Álex Villa, pudiese participar en unas simultáneas con Anatoli Kárpov en Barcelona. Fue una reminiscencia de cuando él mismo fue seleccionado tiempo atrás, como joven promesa del ajedrez, para jugar con Garri Kaspárov.
Las estaciones se han ido sucediendo y, desde la tercera edición, el Llobregat Open Chess Tournament está ayudando al joven talento en su formación ajedrecística. Álex Villa, a 1 de diciembre, es el nº 1 en el ranking español de su edad (sub16).
Como cada ronda de juego, la tradición dicta que una personalidad invitada haga el toque de campana que dé inicio a las partidas del Llobregat Open Chess Tournament. En esta ocasión el toque de campana lo ha hecho Manu Reyes, alcalde de Castelldefels. El gesto es muy significativo: es de importancia capital que el mundo de la política vea la utilidad social del ajedrez, en la alta competición y en la formación de base. Algunas de sus características son la toma de decisiones racional, el intercambio sano de ideas, el fomento de la creatividad, el refuerzo de la memoria, la gestión de la victoria y la aceptación de la derrota, entre otras.

With this in mind, in this article we are going to introduce you to the Catalan master Roberto Villa, who is involved in the organisation of the Llobregat Open Chess Tournament and is responsible for the school tournament, which has now been held four times.
Villa fulfils various roles, including logistics, organisation and advisory tasks.
