Outstanding games of the winners of elllobregat Open Chess (V)

The game played on December 7, 2020 by Abdusattorov (white) and Safarli (black) and corresponds to the international tournament elllobregat Open Chess. After a few moves, both players captured the checkers and reached an equal position. During the middlegame, Abdusattorov weakened his castling but had no problems due to the control of his pawns. In the endgame, Abdusattorov won a pawn and the game.

The game starts with one of the most used moves among the chess community: 1. e4 and Black responded with 1. … c5 which corresponds to the Sicilian defense, considered the best defense that can be played against 1. e4. After a few moves, White opted for the Rossolimo variation with 3. Ab5.

The game continued normally and the queens were captured in only 11 moves, reaching a position with material equality and a bishop pair of both colors. There has come a time when position imbalance can change the evaluation.

During the middlegame, Abdusattorov played with great security, weakening the castling but knowing that, despite this, he would have no major problems because the queenside pawns are controlled by the bishop on b6.
