One of the lines of work of the organizers of the open is to promote the sporting development of young players. Parallel to the organization of the open, we promote initiatives with this objective: we have just signed a collaboration agreement with the Federació D’Escacs Valls D’Andorra; agreement in which we agreed the collaboration of both organizations to promote both the Llobregat Open Chess, as well as the Obert Internacional d’Escacs d’Andorra. We have agreed to invite and exchange players linked to the two tournaments, especially U-20 players, who will be eligible to receive the support that the respective organizations offer to promising young chess players. The good work of GM Oscar de la Riva has favored the initiative and finally the agreement reached.

In the last edition, one of the programmed activities was a school championship. This year we intend to progress in this line; the morning of Sunday December 3 at the headquarters of open, Can Massallera, we will organize the 2nd edition of this offer for young players, especially those of the region.

On Saturday morning, December 2, we have scheduled “Viladecans solidaria“, a rapid games event organized for international masters, participants in the LLOBREGAT OPEN CHESS. An activity that will help to make visible the sporting progression that women have made in recent years, also in high chess competition.

On Monday, December 4, Leontxo García, journalist of EL PAIS, specialized in information about chess, will give a conference on “The relationship between chess and artificial intelligence” at the Hotel El Castell in Sant Boi.

We continue working to complete the offer of activities of EL LLOBREGAT OPEN CHESS 2023.
